The Investment Cooperation Program (INC) offers funding to private sector investments and contracted services towards undertakings that will result in sustainable employment and economic growth in a developing country (including China, India and Mexico). Funding amounts and recipients are as follows:

• Commercial Viability: To determine the market, technical, financial and/or legal viability of an investment. Funding is 50% up to $50,000 to support productive sector (e.g. manufacturing and processing) investment and up to $500,000 for private/public related investments.
• Adaptation and Demonstration of Technology: To demonstrate the cost and benefits of possible technology. Funding is 50% up to $60,000 for productive sector (e.g. manufacturing and processing) investments.
• Sustainability: Private productive sector (e.g. manufacturing and processing) investments and private/public related investments can receive 50% funding up to $70,000 for studies related to social and gender equality or environment enhancement, environmental impact assessments and mitigation plans, as well as, up to $30,000 for human resources and training plans and up to $10,000 for supply chain studies.
• Implementation: Program contribution is 75% to implement activities that improve a developing country’s economic, social (including gender), or environmental sustainability. This contribution is available to investments for the productive (e.g. manufacturing and processing), extractive (mining), or services (e.g. engineering, training consultants, call centres) sectors, as well as to private/public related investments and contracted services.

Eligible investments must be $500,000 or more and for productive sector (e.g. food processing and manufacturing), or extraction sector (e.g. mining) or private/public projects. Investments in military equipment or services, nuclear energy generation, export or import development, and speculative endeavours including natural resource exploration and real estate purchases are not eligible for funding. Please note that the program does not finance the actual investment but offers funding for activities surrounding a proposed or existing investment. Funding for contracted services is restricted to agreements valued at $1 million or more, and to activities that are beyond the terms and conditions of the tender.

Applicants should be incorporated in Canada, have annual sales of over $2 million during the last two of a minimum of three years in operation and have the financial resources to make the propose investment.
