The Ontario Summer Company program provides grants of $3,000. Additionally, a minimum of 12 hours of business training is awarded as well as the opportunity to meet every 2 weeks with a local business mentoring group for support and advice on operating a business. Up to $1,500 of the grant is provided in early summer to help with business start-up costs. The remaining grant portion is given in the fall upon the successful completion of the program.
A qualifying student must be:
- Between the age of 15-29 years old as of April 1, 2010 will be returning to full-time studies in the fall
- Prepared to commit, on average, a minimum of 35 hours per week for 8 weeks;
- Proposing a new sole proprietorship or corporation in Ontario
Ineligible ventures include partnership, franchise, distributorship or commissioned sales organization, incorporated business controlled directly or indirectly by someone who would not be eligible to Summer Company, multi-level marketing organizations, and ventures such as creating a band, doing disc jockeying, arranging dance/party events, or undertaking pay per call business endeavors.
